Ignore the Lies

 In Writing Advice

When you are stuck in the middle of writing a novel, it can be easy to start thinking that your initial idea was terrible. That’s why the book seems so hard right now, because the central concept is deeply flawed.

But, you have a much better idea which is sure to work, and perhaps you should abandon the current work in progress and start writing that new book instead.

Don’t do it.

You’ve got to do everything in your power to ignore the lies your head is telling you and push on with your novel. Only when it is finished will you be able to assess its worth.
